From sub-contractor to major technological player

Techspace Aero has been present in the field of aeronautical propulsion since 1949 and from the outset secured its position as a specialist in precision mechanics, capable of producing components and equipment designed by engine manufacturers.

In order to strengthen its foothold in the engine manufacturing market, the company gradually developed its design and development capabilities by setting up engineering teams and by hiring a large number of engineers.

For most of the major engine programmes, Techspace Aero has concluded partnership agreements with its customers specifying that the company participates in the financing of a new engine alongside the engine manufacturer and assumes full responsibility for a module and/or equipment that represents a share of up to 10% of the complete engine.

Today, Techspace Aero has acquired a technological maturity enabling it to go farther, by really being involved in the development of the architectures of engines within its scope of responsibility, alongside the world’s leading engine manufacturers.

Innovation for the environmental challenges

Techspace Aero's research axes aim to take on the environmental challenges facing aviation while keeping engine and equipment costs to a minimum:

  • compact high load compressors
  • introduction of light materials (composites,...)
  • innovative technology for future engine architectures.

Ongoing development of aerodynamic material and process skills allows Techspace Aero to be the forerunners when it comes to technology.

With over 400 engineers and technicians, Techspace Aero has very strong Research, Technology and Development capacities and works in association with internationally renowned universities and research centers.

Techspace Aero is actively involved in several European and regional research programs which aim to meet the expectations of the major players in propulsion by perfecting innovative solutions in order to reduce mass, fuel burn, size, ... (VITAL, APC, Newac, Dream, ECOM, ...).

Thanks to its technological maturity and the diversity of its skills, Techspace Aero brings technologies to the market that have been validated and tested on a demonstrator, ready to be integrated on engines.
