Feb. 2010 : TA takes over an American company specialising in tanks

Techspace Aero has just taken a 60% interest in the company ACI (Advanced Components International), a manufacturer of oil tanks made of thin sheet, located in Florida (USA) and supplier in particular of Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton Sunstrand, Parker, Williams, Hispano Suiza, Monogram or Woodward.

This acquisition is in keeping with the Equipment Business Unit’s development strategy and aims to strengthen Techspace Aero’s position in the area of :

  • oil system control
  • integration of the tank into the system and on the engine
  • development of its heat exchanger capability

The company, founded in 1991 when it landed the contract for the AE2100 (C130J) and AE3009 (Embraer 135, 145, Global Hawk) tanks, employs 15 people and achieves average annual sales of $ 2m.

In recent years, it has built on the success of its technology in the field of welded, very thin steel sheet tanks and has won several major orders for the GP7000 (A380), PW1217G, PW1524G,(GTF for MRJ and C-series of Bombardier), TRENT XWB (A350) programs, which offer excellent growth prospects for the coming decades.

ACI will become the Techspace Aero's centre of excellence for oil tanks and will underpin the entire process from sales and design to manufacture and maintenance.
