Composites

 

In the race to manufacture lighter engines, Techspace Aero has introduced an innovation by using composite materials in low pressure compressors. In collaboration with Safran Composites, the company has set up a workshop to produce prototype composite stators. The intention is to obtain reductions in mass of approximately 30% within 10 years. Such innovations, tested on real engines, open the way to the increased use of composites in the next generation of engines.
